February 9-12 Thunderhill welcomes the San Francisco Region Sports Car Club of America’s annual race driver training school. This year 59 students will learn to become racers and receive their novice permits. Cars are on track all four days from generally 9 am to 5 pm (Thursday is an open test day for those who already have their race licenses). Admission is free.
The following weekend, February 16-19, the world famous Lemons Endurance Race will be on the three-mile track. Lemons cars are limited to $500 base price and are decorated in many unbelievable ways. We’ve seen sharks, bulls, dogs, spaceships, RV’s, garbage trucks and many more too crazy to mention. If you’re looking for some off-the-wall entertainment, drop by Thunderhill Raceway, 5250 Hwy 162 west of Willows.
